A dream
or worse
a conception
He finds the sand in the husks puzzling
And crawling
With ants in the desert sun.

Vacant with answers
There are sleeping questions
Resting in the subconscious mind
Questioning what lies in the shells from the stars
or what did
And whether or not he is just wasting time.

Whether he finds the bones and the eggs in the sand
There will still be no explanation
Just a runaway
somewhere
But we’ll hunt them
Like dreams always are
and for a small bit of explanation
He’ll obsess over it for days
and months
until it crawls back home into his gray.
